My name is Taina and I am an Economics Major and Chinese Minor graduate from Union College. I received my bachelors degree last June and earned Latin honors. I was President of Tours in Spanish, Standards Representative for Gamma Phi Beta, and a member of the Honor Council. I was admitted into Omicron Delta Epsilon, the Economics honor society. Currently, I serve as an alumni ambassador for the US Government’s Critical Language Scholarship program. I am working in sales in Manhattan.
Experience
This past summer, I balanced an internship while tutoring a 2nd grader in Shanghai, China. Tutored students one-on-one while in highschool for the subjects of: Math, English, Spanish, and History. I've had extensive tutoring experience with students and my fellow peers ever since I was a little girl. Every summer since I was six years old until I was a senior in highschool, I went to Ecuador where my grandmother was an English teacher. Since I was American, she decided to bring me with her to teach highschool students English starting when I was 7! Starting as young as third grade, parents paid me to tutor my friends who were struggling in class. As a result, I developed good communication skills with others from a very young age. Specifically, I acquired the knowledge of how to explain specific concepts in different ways in order to facilitate learning.

Hobbies
Fluent in both English and Spanish. I am fascinated by languages and different cultures. I have an intermediate proficiency in Mandarin language and elementary French proficiency. My hobbies include reading, dancing, and jogging. Friends describe me as an optimistic, energetic person (who sometimes talks a bit too much). My biggest fears are balloons, bugs, and missing out on great adventures.
