I received my undergraduate degree in English from the State University of New York. I spent three years in South Korea teaching English in a primary school. My experience has shown me how difficult it can be to ensure each student has individual attention. In classes of 20-40 students, there are invariably students who fail to have their academic needs met.On the occasions I have been able to work with smaller groups, or individual students, I have seen marked improvement. I believe this is what makes the tutoring experience so valuable. Teachers are able to make a more personal connection with each student and discover what their individual learning style. Knowing what a student's strengths and weaknesses are makes it much easier to develop curriculum and strategies to help that child succeed. I am especially interested in tutoring students who are learning English as a second language. However, I also tutor several other courses, including reading, writing, grammar and mechanics, and English.During my free time, I enjoy tennis, hockey, going to museums, and spending time outdoors.
