Experience
I earned my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Central Florida in English Literature. I continued my education at the City University of New York Hunter College and earned a Master of Science in Bilingual (Spanish) Education. Working as a tutor has been a natural choice for me because I found myself working with my peers in high school in Math and Writing. After graduation, I became a certified teacher in a variety preschool, elementary, middle, and high school subjects. I am enthusiastic about working with students in writing; although, I have experience in working with all types of English studies. I have worked with young children (two year olds) up through college students as they prepare for their graduate exams. I have had the opportunity to tutor in both the United States and China. I provide a hands-on learning approach with my students. I believe that inquiry and investigation is the best way for students to fully comprehend a topic. Memorization does not have a place in my teaching because it merely scratches the surface of knowledge and does not allow students to fully grasp working knowledge of the material. I strive to create an engaging learning atmosphere through active participation. For example, I teach grammar with Ultimate Frisbee or other games and use cooking as a means to approach Algebra. I believe that these types of learning applications help to cultivate knowledge with students. Outside of work, I enjoy playing piano and guitar, watching movies, reading, and writing.
