Experience

I have  BA in Theater and a BA in Sociology from the University of New Mexico. I have a MA in Applied Quantitative Research from New York University. I am currently working on a PhD in Sociology from City University of New York. My tutoring experience has been with students of all ages, including college age. I am passionate about education. I believe that it is important for building a just society. In addition, I have teaching experience in a variety of settings, as well. I am an instructor in English Language Arts for first generation students in New York City. My approach to tutoring involves discovering strengths, and then engaging the student in the process so that they can relate to the information, no matter what is the subject. I want our time together to be interactive so that you are able to carry what you have learned from me to other classes, too. I enjoy working with people from younger students in elementary school to older students in college. Subjects I am able to tutor in include writing, art, math, social studies, essay writing, GRE (all components), AP United States History, and English. I can also help with test preparation to assist you in learning strategies to take the anxiety out of sitting for a test. Outside of academics, I enjoy working in theater, including acting, set building and grant writing.
