Experience

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College in Secondary Education and English. After graduating, I furthered my studies in Curriculum and Instruction toward a Master of Education. I taught high school students at a number of Catholic schools throughout the city. While working in these schools, I also directed programming for international students. Compassion plays a big role for me as a teacher, and working with high school students led me to care more and more about the importance of equality for all in education. I firmly believe education shouldn't be stratified, and that everyone deserves the same opportunities to succeed. After living in Boston, I moved to New York City, where I taught a class at a high school that helped students prepare for the New York State English Regents exam. While in New York, I also began working as a volunteer tutor with Mexican American Students Alliance. My teaching experience in English reading, language, and composition is very vast, and I've worked with students extensively in these subjects. I've worked with students to prepare for the SATs and SAT Subject Tests, the AP English Literature and Composition exam, and other tests. I've also taught vocabulary, persuasive writing skills, literary analysis, public speaking skills, and grammar/mechanics. I love to read, watch movies, run, and play guitar.
